Whether you’ve never touched a firearm or you’re chasing your next personal best, there’s a class here for you. Every course is taught by named, patient instructors right here in Queen Creek, not a rotating cast of strangers, and rentals for firearms, ammo, and eye/ear protection are available for every beginner class below, so you don’t need to own anything to get started. New to Shooting

INTRO TO PISTOL

A hands-on introduction to handgun shooting for total beginners. You'll learn safe handling, proper grip and stance, sight alignment, and trigger control, then put it into practice on the range with an instructor at your side.

Bring: Handguns, ammo, and eye/ear protection are all available to rent or buy on-site.

Open to ages 16 and up. Minors ages 16-20 need their own gear or a parent present.

PISTOL FUNDAMENTALS

A free, no-pressure warmup for Intro to Pistol. You'll practice safe handling, stance, grip, and trigger pull with dry-fire drills, no live ammo and no loud noises, just clear instruction to build your confidence before you ever step on the range.

WOMEN'S ONLY INTRO TO PISTOL

Starting at $802 hrsNo prerequisites

The same hands-on introduction as Intro to Pistol, taught in a women's-only class. You'll learn safe handling, stance, grip, and trigger control from the ground up in a relaxed, supportive setting.

Bring: Handguns, ammo, and eye/ear protection are all available to rent or buy on-site.

Open to ages 16 and up. Minors ages 16-20 need their own gear or a parent present.

INTRO TO CARBINE

A beginner-friendly introduction to carbine rifles, including AR-15-style platforms. You'll cover safe handling and the fundamentals of stance, grip, and sight alignment, then build accuracy and control with live-fire drills.

Bring: Rifles or pistols, ammo, and eye/ear protection are all available to rent or buy on-site.

Open to ages 16 and up. Minors ages 16-20 need a parent to supply gear and ammo.

INTRO TO SHOTGUN

Learn safe shotgun handling, how your shotgun works, and range etiquette, all in a beginner-friendly setting.

Bring: Shotguns, ammo, and eye/ear protection are all available to rent or buy on-site.

Open to ages 16 and up. Minors under 18 need a parent to supply gear and ammo.

Concealed Carry & Legal Qualifications

Get your Arizona CCW permit or renew a law enforcement carry qualification, taught by AZDPS-recognized instructors.

ARIZONA CCW (4HR)

$804 hrsMust safely handle a handgun

Meets Arizona's training requirement for a Concealed Weapons Permit under A.R.S. 13-3112. You'll cover concealed carry law, use-of-force basics, and safe handling in the classroom, then demonstrate safe handgun manipulation on the range. You'll leave with a Certificate of Completion to submit with your AZDPS application. The AZ CCW is valid for 5 years and honored in more than half the country.

Bring: Your own handgun (semi-auto preferred), 50 rounds of ammo, eye/ear protection, and a valid photo ID.

Must be 21+ (19+ for active military/veterans), a U.S. citizen or AZ resident, and not a prohibited possessor. Fingerprinting and paperwork are included in the course fee.

ARIZONA CCW (2.5HR)

$602 hrsRenewal / reciprocity only

A shorter version of our 4-hour CCW class for anyone renewing an expired permit, transferring a CCW from another state, or showing proof of firearms proficiency (like a DD214). Same classroom content as the full course, just no range time.

Bring: A valid photo ID.

Must be 21+ (19+ for active military/veterans), a U.S. citizen or AZ resident, and not a prohibited possessor. Fingerprinting and paperwork are included in the course fee.

LEOSA (H.R. 218) QUALIFICATIONS

$5030 minRetired LEO only

For qualified retired or separated law enforcement officers renewing or obtaining an Arizona LEOSA Certificate of Firearms Proficiency, which allows nationwide concealed carry under the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act. Taught by an AZDPS-recognized LEOSA instructor and meets AZPOST requirements.

Bring: Your handgun, 50 rounds of ammo, and your retired LEO ID (plus an employer verification letter for first-time applicants).

Must meet the federal LEOSA service requirement of 10+ years, or a service-connected disability retirement. Out-of-state qualifications should contact an instructor directly for a private class.

Skill-Building & Specialty Training

For shooters ready to go beyond the basics: optics, low light, and defensive tactical courses.

LOW LIGHT SHOOTING TECHNIQUES

$1202–2.5 hrsDefensive course experience

Most defensive shootings happen in low or no light. This class teaches you to use a flashlight or weapon light effectively, so you can identify threats and shoot accurately when you can't see clearly.

Bring: Your own handgun, holster, 2 spare magazines with a mag holster, a weapon-mounted or handheld light, 150 rounds of ammo, and eye/ear protection (electronic preferred).

INTRO TO PISTOL OPTIC SHOOTING

$802 hrsPrior handgun experience

Built for shooters moving from iron sights to a red dot optic. You'll practice target focus, dot acquisition, drawing and presenting your handgun, and zeroing your optic.

Bring: A semi-auto handgun, at least one spare magazine, a strong-side holster built for an optic (no pancake or serpa holsters), and 100 rounds of ammo.

Open to ages 16 and up. Minors ages 16-20 need a parent to supply gear and ammo.

DEFENSIVE TACTICAL CARBINE 1

4 weeks8 hrs totalFamiliar with your rifle

Not a beginner class, this is for shooters already comfortable with their rifle who want to build real defensive skills: proper grip and presentation, fast reloads, clearing malfunctions, and moving while you shoot. One two-hour session a week for four weeks, building toward Defensive Tactical Carbine 2.

Bring: A semi-auto rifle you know well (AR-15 style preferred), a sling, at least 3 magazines, ear protection, and roughly 500 rounds of ammo for the full course (available for purchase at TSR).

New to rifles? Start with Intro to Carbine instead.

BASIC DEFENSIVE TACTICAL HANDGUN

The handgun counterpart to Defensive Tactical Carbine: proper grip, draw, and presentation from a holster, fast reloads, clearing malfunctions, and moving while you shoot. One two-hour session a week for four weeks, and the prerequisite for our Intermediate and Advanced courses.

Bring: A semi-auto handgun you know well, 2-3 spare magazines, a hard-sided holster (Kydex, no pancake or serpa, no cross-draw), and about 400 rounds of ammo for the full course.

Recommended for ages 21+. Under 21 must attend with someone 21 or older. New to handguns? Start with Intro to Pistol instead.

KIDS CAMP

A two-day safety and marksmanship program built for kids. Beyond safe firearm handling and range etiquette, we cover recognizing unsafe situations, basic first aid, and the confidence to make smart choices, on the range, at home, or anywhere else.

If you want to ease in, our free 30-minute Pistol Fundamentals session is a no-pressure way to learn the basics, with no live fire and no loud noises. From there, Intro to Pistol is the natural next step. Walk in anytime, our staff will make sure you’re comfortable before you ever step onto the range.
No. We have rental firearms, ammunition, and eye and ear protection available for every beginner class, so all you need to bring is a valid photo ID.
Take our Arizona CCW (4HR) class if you’re starting from scratch, or the 2.5HR classroom-only version if you already qualify through prior experience, like a CCW from another state or recent military service. You’ll leave with a Certificate of Completion to submit with your AZDPS application. The Arizona CCW is valid for five years and honored in well over half the country.
Yes. Our Women’s Only Intro to Pistol is built for a comfortable, pressure-free first experience.
Yes. Our two-day Kids Camp is designed for ages 8-16 and covers real firearm safety, not just rules. Kids 6-12 also shoot free with a paying adult during regular range time.
